Giving Students the Best, So They Can Be Their Best
At Monty’s Montessori Academy, we desire to help our students grow in a rich, nurturing environment. From beautifully-prepared classrooms to fun-filled playgrounds, we want our kids to explore and enjoy their surroundings while interacting with children and adults alike.
We choose our extracurricular activities carefully as well. Depending on the campus, our students take sports, Kung Fu, Music FUNdations, and art courses for a minimal fee per class. We have open houses, carnivals, tea parties, self-defense demonstrations, and graduations. All of these activities foster a rich community of families who work and play together.
Monty’s Montessori Academy shares these distinctive:
✅ We provide a thorough, complete kindergarten experience to lay a strong foundation for all future schooling, with a low student-to-teacher ratio. In many public school kindergarten classrooms, there can be one teacher with 25 students.
✅ We present diverse, rich infant and pre-school programs to take advantage of the 1,825 days crucial to 90% of human brain development—the first five years of life.
Our Calimesa campus also includes an elementary school serving children up to Grade 6. A 2007 Duke University study shows that sixth graders do better in elementary school, not in middle school, both in behavior and in standardized test results. In addition, these differences can be seen through Grade 9.

The Essentials
6 Characteristics of a Montessori School
Classrooms include children of various ages
We feel that children learn best when they have many good role models. In the Montessori classroom, younger students observe the ways in which older children work, interact with each other and with the adults, and handle conflict. Older students benefit by learning leadership skills, teaching younger children, and experiencing empathy.
The community emphasizes responsibility and self-discipline
Students learn how to work independently and care for their environment to the best of their abilities. Dr. Maria Montessori maintained, “Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.” Guiding students in personal responsibility and self-discipline takes patience. Such persistence leads to the reward of having students with self-control.
The curriculum points the child toward independence
A Montessori classroom has prepared workstations that aid children in their growing independence. With guidance, they are free to choose their own exercises and master skills at an individual pace. The materials are presented in a lovely, orderly manner, as students are attracted to beauty and cleanliness. The exercises generally are self-correcting, encouraging the child’s independence.
The prepared classroom environment encourages exploration
Many parents, upon seeing a Montessori classroom, ask, “Where was this when I was in school?” Furniture is child-sized, as Dr. Montessori was the first to develop this concept. Everywhere there is something beautiful to examine, touch, and experience. Tools for maintaining an orderly environment also are available for student use.
A guide is someone who directs learning, rather than imposes it
In the Montessori practice, teachers are called “guides.” They help direct learning, introducing new material as children master techniques. Guides make suggestions, then observe to insure students are occupied and safe, giving assistance when it is requested.
The atmosphere of the school is one of mutual respect
Montessori schools model respect and cooperation among staff, students, and families. Every person in the community is encouraged to contribute to the good of the whole environment. Hard work and persistence are emphasized, rather than just the quality of a final product. Grades normally are not given, as we believe children should learn to grow, not to obtain a reward.
Our Mission
Monty’s Montessori Academy’s goal is to enable our students to expand their knowledge base and their critical thinking abilities. We seek to promote collaboration among students, staff, using our families, and our community, using our combined insight and skills to nurture the children. As such, we value and seek to improve communication between our students, staff, and families as we work toward a shared goal of physical and emotional well-being, social maturation, and academic growth for every child.
